The Master Plan
In
order to help us accomplish the goals set forth int he Interlocal
Agreement, the Utah Lake Commission intend s to pursue an expeditious
schedule for development of a Master
Plan.
The Plan will
provide guidance to individuals and groups who are prepared to proceed
with projects affecting the Lake and its shore lands. The
plan will also be used by municipalities and state agencies with the
responsibility and authority to approve or deny approval as these
projects are presented to them.
The Master Plan will include the following correlated elements:
- A
land use plan which considers Public Trust and Sovereign Land
requirements in making decisions regarding the lake and the land
surrounding it. This includes balancing economic benefits and
public access, use, enjoyment and protection and promoting land use
planning coordination.
- A
transportation plan which includes consideration for roads, access
areas, buffer zones, restrictions and limitations.
- A
natural resources conservation and management plan which includes, but
is not limited to, improving the quality of the lake and its water in
order to improve all aspects of conservations, recreation, wildlife,
riparian interests, wetlands, and open space.
- A
recreation plan which includes consideration for trails, marinas,
beaches, entry points, public access areas and other areas of public
interest.
- A
public services and capital facilities plan.
- A
shoreline protection plan.
The
Master Plan is currently in the planning stages. We hope to
have it completed by January 2009.
